Today is the last official day of 2017, and I noticed something. I have had more people tell me that they were glad this year was finally over and the new year was bound to be better than the last. People have suffered loss of loved ones, and property, had family members become ill with anything from cancer to dementia. Financial issues from not having enough money to pay the bills to having a house that just won’t sell, no matter what they do. There seems to be a lot of frustration and sadness attached to this year. I hate that. So change things!
Every year I make resolutions that I don’t keep. Okay, I know your nodding your head because you do the same thing. Who doesn’t. The most common, I am going to eat better and exercise more! Who hasn’t made that one? Yeah, that’s what I thought! In fact, I have made that one yet again this year! I mean, really, why break tradition. But this year, I plan on sticking with it. I know what your thinking..I bet she has said that before too. Yes, as a matter of fact I have. What’s your point?
I want to do something different this year. I don’t know what yet. Get published. Do something that I have always been afraid to try. Eat something I have never tried. Alligator, snake, or eel in a can. (My husband bought some at an Asian market). Tame my horrible temper, or at least try to handle things better without getting so mad. That would be by far the hardest one ever. Worse than dieting and excising and I have a major passionate love for food, so that’s saying something.
So, think about it. Get serious about it this year. If you don’t like how last year went, or even if you did, challenge yourself this year. Do something different. Life doesn’t have to be full of monotonous moments where you feel like a hamster in a wheel going around and around, doing the same thing over and over again! You have one life on this earth! Live it!
